Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to electrical work and related services provided by SP Electrical. By accepting a quotation or instructing us to begin work, you agree to these terms.

1. Quotations

Quotations are based on the information available and the condition of the installation visible at the time of inspection.

Unless otherwise stated, quotations remain valid for 30 days. Prices will state whether VAT is included or added separately.

Additional work that could not reasonably have been identified before work began may result in an additional charge. We will explain this and seek your approval before proceeding wherever reasonably possible.

2. Booking and acceptance

A booking is confirmed when you accept our quotation or otherwise instruct SP Electrical to carry out the work.

Acceptance may be provided in writing, by email, by text message or through another agreed method.

Any changes to the agreed work should be confirmed in writing.

3. Access and customer responsibilities

The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the property, electrical installation and working areas at the agreed time.

The customer is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information about the property and existing installation.

  • Obtaining any necessary permission from the property owner, landlord or managing agent.

  • Keeping working areas reasonably clear and accessible.

  • Informing us about any known hazards, including asbestos or other hazardous materials.

  • Ensuring that valuable or fragile items are removed from the working area.

Electrical supplies may need to be temporarily isolated while work is completed.

4. Additional and unforeseen work

Electrical work can reveal hidden defects, damaged wiring, unsafe alterations or other problems that were not visible during the initial inspection.

Where additional work is required, we will explain the issue and provide an additional price or revised quotation before continuing wherever reasonably possible.

If an immediate safety risk is discovered, we may isolate or make the affected installation safe. Any additional remedial work will be discussed with the customer.

5. Materials

Materials will be suitable for their intended purpose and will normally be those specified in the quotation.

Where a specified product is unavailable, we may propose a suitable alternative of comparable quality and performance. Any significant change will be discussed with the customer before installation.

Special-order or personalised materials may require payment in advance and may not be returnable.

6. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, invoices are payable immediately upon completion of the work and receipt of the invoice.

For contracted or commercial work, a payment period of up to 30 days may be agreed in writing and will be shown on the quotation, contract or invoice.

A deposit or advance payment may be required for larger projects, special-order materials or work scheduled over several stages.

SP Electrical reserves the right to pause further work where an agreed payment becomes overdue.

Overdue business invoices may be subject to statutory interest and recovery charges where permitted by law.

7. Cancellations and postponements

Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

We may charge for reasonable costs already incurred, including special-order materials, completed work and losses caused by a late cancellation, where permitted by law.

Consumers who enter into a contract online, by telephone or away from our business premises may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days.

If you ask us to begin work during this cancellation period, you may be required to pay for any work completed before cancellation. The right to cancel may end once the service has been fully performed, where you expressly requested an early start and acknowledged this consequence.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

8. Delays

We will make reasonable efforts to attend and complete work at the agreed time.

However, completion dates may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including material shortages, supplier delays, adverse weather, illness, access problems, emergencies or delays involving electricity network operators.

We will notify you of significant delays and arrange a revised date where necessary.

9. Electrical safety and certification

All electrical work will be carried out with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

Where required, appropriate electrical certification or documentation will be provided following completion and receipt of payment.

Testing may reveal defects or non-compliance within the existing installation. Unless specifically included in the quotation, the price does not include correcting every pre-existing defect.

We cannot guarantee that an existing installation will pass an inspection or test.

10. Making good and decoration

Electrical work may require access through walls, ceilings, floors, cupboards or other finished surfaces.

Basic making good will only be included where stated in the quotation. Plastering, filling, painting, decorating, flooring repairs and specialist building work are excluded unless specifically agreed.

We will take reasonable care to minimise disruption and damage.

11. Workmanship and warranties

SP Electrical will carry out services with reasonable care and skill.

Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied equipment where available and are subject to the manufacturer’s conditions.

If you believe there is a problem with our workmanship, please contact us promptly and allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, correct the issue.

Warranties do not cover misuse, accidental damage, unauthorised alterations, normal wear and tear, faults elsewhere in the installation or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

12. Liability

SP Electrical will not be responsible for loss or damage caused by inaccurate information, concealed defects, pre-existing faults, third-party work or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Nothing in these terms limits the legal rights available to consumers.

13. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any part of our service, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and attempt to resolve the matter.

Please provide your name, property address, invoice or quotation details and a description of the issue.

14. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
