Your consumer unit or fuse board is the heart of your electrical installation.
Its main job is to keep you safe if a fault develops by promptly disconnecting the affected circuit.
As you know technology has come a long way in the last 30 years, we are constantly upgrading equipment around us but for some reason peoples electrical installations often get overlooked. There are many outdated fuse boards in use today which don't offer the protection and convenience that a modern one would. The most important advance in technology is a device called an RCD or Residual Current Device.
An RCD is capable of detecting earth leaks or faults and if the currents exceed the safe level, will disconnect the circuit within milliseconds. If for example an appliance develops a fault or a cable is drilled through, it will trip to protect you from the fault. We install high quality consumer units that offer full RCD protection for your peace of mind.
When upgrading a consumer unit we will check each circuit is fault free and correct for continued use. Should we find that you require remedial work, for example a broken ring circuit or no continuity of protective conductor, then these issues will need to be resolved at an additional cost to the change of the consumer unit.
